Description
When standing at the top of this castle-like limestone tower, a person can enjoy the view of the beautiful countryside near Winterset, Iowa.
Caleb Clark was a pioneer stonemason, and with his wife Ruth, they were the first Pioneer Settlers in Madison County, Iowa. This limestone tower was erected in 1926 in recognition of their contributions throughout the early years of settlement. The plaque on the tower reads: Erected in Memory Of; Caleb and Ruth Clark; Pioneer Settlers of Madison County; 1846-1926.
The 25 foot tall Clark's Tower is accessed by a single-car road meandering through the woods and over stone bridges. A person may meet bicycle riders, hikers, and possibly wild turkey and deer on the road. The stone steps lead to the two levels above. Climbing to the uppermost part of the tower provides an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. This is all part of the beautiful City Park in Winterset, Iowa.
This would make an amazing jigsaw puzzle, mug, or greeting card, in addition to wall art. Please visit lindabrittain.pixels.com for many other gift and home decor suggestions.
