Castles in Iowa? There likely are not very many, except near Ida Grove. Matching pairs of knights guard the turrets leading into the footbridge over a small creek on the golf course. It has been transformed into a medieval suspension bridge, with an imposing portcullis on either end.
Byron Godbersen grew up in Iowa, always enjoyed castles, and since he was a self-made multimillionaire, he built castle turrets, walls, and knights in armor throughout Ida Grove. The shopping plaza, skating rink, and many store fronts and businesses share the castle style.
