This Ruby-Throated Hummingbird was enjoying a snack while hovering over the feeder, for just a second! Although there are perching bars available, they generally don't land, just hover. These are extremely fast flying, small birds with long slender bills for reaching deep into tubular flowers, or into special bird feeders. This square format photo was captured in West Des Moines, Iowa. This would make an amazing throw pillow, mug, or jigsaw puzzle.
