On a hot day in Iowa, this beautiful Morgan Horse enjoyed relaxing with a fan blowing in his face. Image presented in a square format.
The Morgan Horse is one of America’s first native breeds. The breed originated from a single stallion named Figure in the New England area of the USA in the late 1700’s. Figure was later named after its schoolteacher owner, Justin Morgan. These horses usually have a long, thick mane and tail, and have a wonderfully pleasant personality with an exceptional cooperative and willing attitude. In the 1800's, Morgans became popular driving and harness racing horses, and during the Civil War, soldiers rode Morgans and used them to pull cannons. Today they are extremely versatile as a carriage and saddle horse, in the show ring or working cattle on a ranch.
